Capital Christian High School faces Amador High School this week.
Capital Christian High School's girls soccer team is the underdog in Tuesday's playoff match, but Athletic Director Suzanne Baker warned not to count the team out. The team is a "sleeper," Baker said. "We will see how they do Tuesday against Amador," she said in an email. Capital finished in the No. 3 spot in its league, while Amador is No. 1 in its league. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Amador, 330 Spanish St. in Sutter Creek.
The Cougar received offers from many colleges, according to a news report.
Capital Christian High School hoops star Matt Donlan will attend college at South Dakota State University, but that isn't the only college that showed interest in him. "The 6-foot-7, 185 pounder also held offers from Duquesne, Houston Baptist, IUPUI, James Madison, Oakland, Stetson, and Wright State with walk-on opportunities from Boise State and Richmond," NorCalPreps.com reported. Donlan was talking with about a half-dozen other schools, the site reported. Click here to read NorCalPreps.com's full story on Donlan.

The Wolverines will begin playoff competition next week.
Rosemont High School's boys varsity baseball team has earned the No. 2 spot in its league, and will enter the playoffs by facing Rocklin next week. "Seniors Parish Chavez and Joey Nicolino are the only seniors on the baseball team," Kapp said in an email. "The team is led by sophomore southpaw Sam Long on the mound and the hitting of junior Jalen Brown and dual sport athlete Tyler Masterson. The local basketball standout has chosen a college, so what does his future coach think of him?
Capital Christian High School senior Matt Donlan will "play a big role in the future of South Dakota State basketball," his future college coach told a South Dakota newspaper. Donlan has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for South Dakota State University, and the Brookings Register newspaper recently asked that school's head coach what he thought about Donlan. "Matt's a guy that continues to get better and better because of his tireless work ethic, and we're very excited to add a player of Matt's character and talent this late in the recruiting process," Jackrabbit head coach Scott Nagy told the Brookings Register. The South Dakota men's basketball team made the NCAA Tournament last year.
Aleshia Ayers and Kiersten Jackson will play for the south-area all-stars.

The Cougar basketball player has decided on a college.
Matt Donlan, a standout on this year's league-champion Capital Christian boys basketball team, will play college basketball at South Dakota State University, his mother said Monday. Tracey Donlan, who blogs for this site, said the native Australian received scholarship offers from more than a half-dozen schools–more than she could remember. "Over his recruiting this year we talked/had interest from more than 40 division One programs all across the country," Tracey Donlan said in an email. "Matt just felt that SDSU was a great fit for him with basketball and he has a great deal of respect for the coaches and the team. He loves the facilities at SDSU and it just felt 'right.' The Capital Christian Cougars shut down the Dixon Rams Friday at Raley Field 12-0 to close out the season. Junior Mauricio Dubon hit a solo home run at the Triple-A ballpark in the bottom of the fifth inning.
A big performance on a big stage topped off with a home run to remember can describe Capital Christian’s big victory over Dixon Friday as the Cougars’ varsity baseball team routed the Rams 12-0 at Raley Field. Capital Christian excelled both on offense and defense; the Cougars scored seven of its 12 runs in the first inning while only giving up three hits for the entire game. Of the 12 runs that Capital Christian scored, the most exciting one was a solo home run by Junior Mauricio Dubon that just bounced off the left field fence and was immediately ruled a home run by the second base umpire. “It’s an incredible feeling (hitting the home run),” Dubon said. “I wish my mom could have saw it but she couldn’t be here, but all my family is here …
