Ah, the prom, that unforgettable night rife with wonder and excitement; high school juniors and seniors on the precipice of adulthood bursting with teenage angst and hormones, praying that cursed pimple goes away before the big night, the excruciating pressure of asking that special boy or girl, the last-minute rush to the tuxedo store, the elaborate hair and make-up sessions. A PTA President on the School Board? Pritchett Will Run

"I have a strong voice and I feel like I could make a difference," longtime volunteer Christina Pritchett said.

Most people who have spent time at Rosemont school events would likely recognize Christina Pritchett. She's currently the president of parent-teacher associations at both Albert Einstein Middle School and Rosemont High School, even though she doesn't have any kids currently in high school. She was brought on stage and honored at the Essence of Rosemont celebration last month, and she had to go directly from a recent interview to assisting behind the scenes at Sequoia Elementary School's talent show. Pritchett announced late Friday that she plans to run for school board in the Sacramento City Unified School District, in the seat currently held by Trustee Donald Terry. The seat represents Rosemont, College Greens, La Riviera, parts of Rancho…

Where Will 6-Foot-6 CCHS Star Play College Basketball?

The Cougar basketball player has decided on a college.

Matt Donlan, a standout on this year's league-champion Capital Christian boys basketball team, will play college basketball at South Dakota State University, his mother said Monday. Tracey Donlan, who blogs for this site, said the native Australian received scholarship offers from more than a half-dozen schools–more than she could remember. "Over his recruiting this year we talked/had interest from more than 40 division One programs all across the country," Tracey Donlan said in an email. "Matt just felt that SDSU was a great fit for him with basketball and he has a great deal of respect for the coaches and the team. He loves the facilities at SDSU and it just felt 'right.' He will study Economics." The Sacramento Bee described Matt Donlan…

Teacher Appreciation Week: Who's Your Favorite Teacher?

Tell us about the teacher(s) who had the biggest impact on your life.

We all have a favorite teacher, a person who changed our lives with encouragement, sound advice or a kind word. Rosemont, who is your favorite teacher? Do you know of a great educator you would like to recognize from the past or present? May 8 is National Teacher Day, and the week of May 7 to May 11 is Teacher Appreciation Week. We want to celebrate the teachers in your life. Capital Christian Baseball Dominates Dixon at Raley Field

The Capital Christian Cougars shut down the Dixon Rams Friday at Raley Field 12-0 to close out the season. Junior Mauricio Dubon hit a solo home run at the Triple-A ballpark in the bottom of the fifth inning.

A big performance on a big stage topped off with a home run to remember can describe Capital Christian’s big victory over Dixon Friday as the Cougars’ varsity baseball team routed the Rams 12-0 at Raley Field. Capital Christian excelled both on offense and defense; the Cougars scored seven of its 12 runs in the first inning while only giving up three hits for the entire game. Of the 12 runs that Capital Christian scored, the most exciting one was a solo home run by Junior Mauricio Dubon that just bounced off the left field fence and was immediately ruled a home run by the second base umpire. “It’s an incredible feeling (hitting the home run),” Dubon said. “I wish my mom could have saw it but she couldn’t be here, but all my family is here …
