16-Year-Old Arrested on Charges of Exposing Himself to Drivers

The indecent exposure arrest was made on Rosemont's Tallyho Drive Saturday evening.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in Rosemont after he stood naked outside, exposing himself to passing drivers, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. In all, the boy exposed himself to six passers-by on Tallyho Drive, including two 11-year-old girls, a sheriff's department crime log states. "Officers attempted to contact [the suspect], who was standing in front of his residence wearing no clothing," the crime log states. "[The suspect] fled on foot into his residence as the officer commanded [him] to stop. Officer gave chase and immediately followed [the suspect] into his residence by kicking in the front door." Want to Learn about Gangs in Rosemont?

Authorities will host a gang-awareness event this month.

Rosemont residents will have the chance to learn about gangs at a community event later this month at Albert Einstein Middle School. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's Youth Services Unit will host the "Community Gang Awareness Symposium" at 6 p.m. on May 31 at the middle school, 9325 Mirandy Dr. Some of the topics will include the "consequences of gang violence," an overview of gangs, as well as a discussion of the Rosemont Community Association's graffiti-cleanup team. Shots Fired and Arrest Made After Apartment Fight, Stabbing

A fight at an apartment complex escalated, ending with a stabbing and an arrest for allegedly firing a gun into the air.

An apartment complex melee Sunday night in Rosemont led to a man being stabbed in the leg and another being arrested for firing shots into the air, a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. The sheriff's department first responded to an apartment complex in the 9500 block of Cassandra Way after a caller reported a fight between five or six women at 6:43 p.m., Dep. Jason Ramos said. The deputy didn't see anything major happening, and left. A few minutes later, the department received another call saying there was a large group of men and women fighting, Ramos said. Bee: Arrested Deputy Worked in Rancho Cordova

A Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy arrested Wednesday on drug charges was assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department, according to the Sacramento Bee. The Bee reported 43-year-old Kelly Smith "allegedly refilled and picked up painkillers prescribed to an elderly man she had befriended ... without the man's knowledge and kept the pills for her own purposes." Smith, who has worked for the sheriff's department for 23 years, is charged with "unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, and unlawful use of personal identifying information of another," according to a sheriff's department press release. Three Meth Arrests Made in Three Days

A man and two women were arrested in separate incidents, according to a crime log.

Three people were arrested in three separate incidents in and near Rosemont over the weekend after being found with methamphetamine, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. A woman was arrested outside a Micron Avenue motel Saturday night after Rancho Cordova Police found her to be wanted on three separate charges, according to a crime log. Thirty-five-year-old Monique Francillette, who also uses the name Monique Williams, is wanted in Placer County on three misdemeanor theft charges, according to Sacramento County records. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District held a kitchen fire demonstration Tuesday.

Members of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District did something Tuesday that firefighters rarely do: they started a kitchen fire. Luckily they demonstrated how to extinguish the grease fire, which was started in a room at the Rancho Cordova Inn, 10701 Folsom Blvd. In a press release, the fire district said kitchen fires, which are usually caused by unattended cooking, are the leading cause of residential home fires. "Cooking equipment was involved in two of every five (42%) reported home fires, one of every seven (15%) home fire deaths, two of every five (37%) of reported home fire injuries, and eleven percent of the direct property damage resulting from home fires," spokesman Assistant Chief Scott Cockrum said in a press release. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is asking for help identifying a man suspected of burglarizing a home in Rosemont. Authorities have already arrested 35-year-old Tony Lewis and 35-year-old Kimi Crawford; the department says the pair broke into a home on Tamango Way on April 22 and took items back to their own home, which is near the victim's house. "Further investigation led to the seizure of some video surveillance from the suspects’ residence, which captured the suspects taking stolen property from the victim residence into their home," the sheriff's department said in a press release. Bouncetown Door Smashed with Pole

The Rosemont-area business was vandalized over the weekend.

An indoor children's party location just east of Rosemont was vandalized on Sunday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Someone "pulled a metal sign pole out of the ground and used it to smash the glass in a metal framed glass door of [Bouncetown]," located on Business Park Drive, according to a crime log from the department. The door "was shattered but remained intact," and no one entered the business, the crime log states. No suspects were found.

Alleged Burglar Spotted by Witnesses, Arrested

Daniel Lee Washington, 24, was arrested last week.

Several witnesses made an alleged burglary difficult for a man arrested in Rosemont last week, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Daniel Lee Washington, 24, was arrested around 5 p.m. on April 24 while hiding in the Gold Creek Lane townhome complex near Mayhew and Goethe roads, the department said in a crime log. Witnesses told the department they saw Washington leaving "a previously locked garage" belonging to one resident and the backyard of another resident; a burglary had just occured in the second resident's garage, according to the crime log.
