That's too bad. Is there something we can do to attract a good business to occupy that retail space?

@Elk Grove Laguna Forums, cutting programs is not the answer, finding out where the waste in…Read More taxpayer (and lottery) dollars is and eliminating it is the answer. As Donna said, it's the union and the administration to blame for much of this mess. Cutting music, physical education and art among other programs only hurts our children and does nothing to improve the quality of education they are receiving.

Great news for Kings fans in Carmichael and Fair Oaks, some of whom probably work at Arco!

We have lived in Rosemont on Contempo Drive since 1986 and have never had the road re-paved and it…Read More needs it really bad. We have a couple of big cracks in the road and all they do is come by once in awhile and fill it in which doesn't last very long.

If this is true, and I don't believe it is, then good luck re-zoning it. Ain't gonna happen.…Read More Rosemont is already dealing with too much high-density problems. I suggest you tell your "brother-in-law" to focus on lowering the rents and actually managing the property like an adult business owner and getting more tenants in there if he wants to make money. A development plan ain't gonna get him anything but a larger headache.

You are right Brad, I have to say I doubt it also.....It seems to me the plaza is getting more and…Read More more unkempt, grungy and dirty. The cost of renting and/or leasing is out of perspective with what they expect people to pay for it. It would be a positive move and a clever economic move to reduce the rent/price until there is a substantial improvement in the economy. Better than sitting empty. Plus..clean it up for crying out loud...the landscaping is beautiful, but it's becoming so dirty.

In addition to being a mother of three, I'm a formerly credentialed elementary school teacher,…Read More trained Girl Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher and respite care giver for those with special needs. To pay me the $10.50 an hour this calculator suggests for my area would be a slap in the face to me. I don't just sit around and watch children (of any age) watch TV or play computer games. I play and work with children, thus leaving them better off for having spent time with me. I'm currenly watching a ten-year-old two weeks a month, and am currently teaching her how to sew and bake homemade bread. The $12.00 an hour I charge is well worth it for the time I put in. I strongly feel that the amount paid for any child care job should be calculated based on the providers' training, experience, and how they spend their time with children.

Paying a person to 'buy' their time to come to your home, or ?? to care for your most beloved…Read More valuable in Life, is all a matter left to the Parent. Sure, you can review the guidelines set by some averages, areas, and calculations, but,,, bottom line is, it is what is within your budget and the agreement you have between you and your provider. If you want a credentialed nurse, teacher or professional, to come in, you will be paying more than you will be by hiring a high school student. I am a Caregiver/Nanny, my rates depend on the situation. I am a Mother/Grandmother, CPR/FirstAid certified and have a mile long list of experience and references. Personally, I will not work on a basis of a flat fee and variable hours. My time is charged by the time I spend, my duties, etc. Each party should communicate and agree on all aspects of responsibilities and payment. Taking care of someone's child is the most important job I have ever had. The Responsibility of it is Immense! If you are looking for someone to care for your Baby, whether 3 months, or 12 years old, please be sure that their PRIORITY is that Child, and NOT anything else! Check references and background, and when you are happy with that individual's care, please show them you are. They are there because they need the money. A few dollars shows your Caregiver that you Appreciate them, and if you can not spare that extra couple of bucks, you may want to rethink leaving your loved one with anyone at all...

For the last 4 years, the citizens that make up this little kingdom of theirs have been losing their…Read More jobs and homes. We've seen tent cities pop up while hoity toity ivory towers order the police departments to kick them off the land. We've seen the citizens that make up their little kingdom who have risked it all to start a business, lose their businesses in all areas. Ordinary citizens have been and are losing their livelihoods, losing their homes and losing their sanity. Now the government sector wants [us] to shed a tear because they are losing their shirt? You can have your box of tissue back.

Not surprised there's no comments yet, given the anti-Walmart sentiment here. How much did Target…Read More contribute? Costco? Both Walmart and Sam's Club have been extremely generous in the communities for years and *oddly* we don't see much about it in the media. Thanks to the Patch for this article.
