16-Year-Old Arrested on Charges of Exposing Himself to Drivers

The indecent exposure arrest was made on Rosemont's Tallyho Drive Saturday evening.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in Rosemont after he stood naked outside, exposing himself to passing drivers, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. In all, the boy exposed himself to six passers-by on Tallyho Drive, including two 11-year-old girls, a sheriff's department crime log states. "Officers attempted to contact [the suspect], who was standing in front of his residence wearing no clothing," the crime log states. "[The suspect] fled on foot into his residence as the officer commanded [him] to stop. Officer gave chase and immediately followed [the suspect] into his residence by kicking in the front door." The boy was caught and arrested in the backyard of the home around 7:40 p.m., the crime log states. He …

Want to Learn about Gangs in Rosemont?

Authorities will host a gang-awareness event this month.

Rosemont residents will have the chance to learn about gangs at a community event later this month at Albert Einstein Middle School. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's Youth Services Unit will host the "Community Gang Awareness Symposium" at 6 p.m. on May 31 at the middle school, 9325 Mirandy Dr. Some of the topics will include the "consequences of gang violence," an overview of gangs, as well as a discussion of the Rosemont Community Association's graffiti-cleanup team. Members of the sheriff's department and district attorney's office will present at the meeting. More information is available at http://ssdysu.org/.

Sacramento County Looks for New Head Lawyer

County Counsel Robert Ryan, Jr., is retiring.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will meet behind closed doors this week to interview candidates for the county's top law position. Current Sacramento County Counsel Robert Ryan, Jr., plans to retire in June after 18 years in the position, the Sacramento Business Journal reported in January. The board will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. Friday to interview potential replacements. The county counsel gives legal advice to the county, and prosecutes and defends several kinds of civil lawsuits when the county is involved, according to the county's website.

CCHS Soccer Enters Playoffs Tuesday

Capital Christian High School faces Amador High School this week.

Capital Christian High School's girls soccer team is the underdog in Tuesday's playoff match, but Athletic Director Suzanne Baker warned not to count the team out. The team is a "sleeper," Baker said. "We will see how they do Tuesday against Amador," she said in an email. Capital finished in the No. 3 spot in its league, while Amador is No. 1 in its league. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Amador, 330 Spanish St. in Sutter Creek.

Have Room for a Cat? Shelter Seeks Foster Homes

Cats and dogs younger than two months old are kept in foster homes.

Kitten season has arrived, and the Sacramento County Animal Shelter is looking for foster homes to house some of their young cats. "Right now, kitten season is especially challenging, but year-round, we need people to open their homes to animals until they are ready for adoption," the shelter says on its website. Cats and dogs younger than two months, as mother animals who are nursing, are housed in foster homes. People who volunteer to house foster animals have to provide "some space, time, socialization and love" to young or recovering animals, according to a flier. The shelter will provide bedding, food and medical care. The shelter is also looking for supplies: food, feeding bottles, cat litter and more. More information is available …

Shots Fired and Arrest Made After Apartment Fight, Stabbing

A fight at an apartment complex escalated, ending with a stabbing and an arrest for allegedly firing a gun into the air.

An apartment complex melee Sunday night in Rosemont led to a man being stabbed in the leg and another being arrested for firing shots into the air, a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. The sheriff's department first responded to an apartment complex in the 9500 block of Cassandra Way after a caller reported a fight between five or six women at 6:43 p.m., Dep. Jason Ramos said. The deputy didn't see anything major happening, and left. A few minutes later, the department received another call saying there was a large group of men and women fighting, Ramos said. He said it appeared that during the first fight, a woman left and returned with a group of people "to try and get some 'revenge.' " "Then an update came in that …

Just How Many Schools Gave Donlan Offers?

The Cougar received offers from many colleges, according to a news report.

Capital Christian High School hoops star Matt Donlan will attend college at South Dakota State University, but that isn't the only college that showed interest in him. "The 6-foot-7, 185 pounder also held offers from Duquesne, Houston Baptist, IUPUI, James Madison, Oakland, Stetson, and Wright State with walk-on opportunities from Boise State and Richmond," NorCalPreps.com reported.
