Workers at the Sacramento County Animal Shelter bid farewell to a pair of special animals last week.
Baby and Shadow, , were adopted last Thursday. The dogs left after spending 15 months at the county facility where staff and volunteers helped rehabilitate them.
It was a heartwarming ending for a horrific case. As Rosemont Patch reported previously, who had been temporarily staying with the dogs' owner. The man, Robert DeShields, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender when released.
But last Thursday, in a photo posted by the shelter, the dogs appeared healthy and excited to meet their new owner. As staff workers looked on, the two Chihuahuas departed with tails wagging.
