Some readers shared their ideas on how to stay cool during the summertime on our Facebook page. We took those and gathered some other ideas to put together a list of 4 ways you can stay cool in Rosemont.
1. Community pools: You can enjoy public swimming during the hottest time of the day at Rosemont High School, which opens its pool from 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. from Monday through Thursday. Admission is $2.
The Lincoln Village Community Park in Rancho Cordova is about a mile from Rosemont on 3480 Routier Road, and offers public swimming from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
White Rock Park at 10488 White Rock Road in Rancho Cordova has a large splash park where children can play in fountains from noon to 7 p.m. every day.
2. A river runs through it: The American River Parkway is about a mile away from Rosemont, although you can find rapids and riffles anywhere between Watt Avenue and the community of Fair Oaks. Bring your own inner tube or go big by rafting down the river with California Canoe and Kayak or American River Raft Rentals, both in Rancho Cordova.
3. Head to the gym: The best thing about working out while it's hot? "Good A/C there," said one reader. Grab your gym bag and mosey over to 24 Hour Fitness on Micron Avenue if your home's air conditioning unit can't keep up.
4. Ice Cream: After all, it is , so why not make it your mission to test out some of the ice cream spots in Rosemont this summer? is one of the best places to get ice cream in the neighborhood, but if you venture farther afield, check out Burr's Fountain in East Sacramento, Gunther's Quality Ice Cream in Curtis Park, and Vic's Ice Cream in Land Park.
