Rosemont was a Racehorse

The name of this town once belonged to a 1930s thoroughbred.

This may come as no surprise to fans of the 2003 film "Seabiscuit," but a Sacramento County neighborhood wasn't the first use of the name "Rosemont."

Rosemont, a prize-winning thoroughbred who took first place in the 1937 Santa Anita Handicap, was the subject of news reels and radio updates.

In that race, the Virginia-born Rosemont beat out Seabiscuit for the win.
