's boys varsity baseball team has earned the No. 2 spot in its league, and will enter the playoffs by facing Rocklin next week.
Rosemont Athletic Director Bill Kapp said Rosemont High would have been in a first-place tie with rival McClatchy High, except for a 7-6 loss to Burbank.
"Seniors Parish Chavez and Joey Nicolino are the only seniors on the baseball team," Kapp said in an email. "The team is led by sophomore southpaw Sam Long on the mound and the hitting of junior Jalen Brown and dual sport athlete Tyler Masterson. Currently the baseball team sports a 12-12 record overall and 9-2 in league play."
The team will have its first playoff matchup at 4 p.m. Thursday at American River College (4700 College Oak Dr.). Rocklin High School is also No. 2 in its league.
The winner of that game will face the victor of the Bella Vista-Woodcreek matchup.
