Kings to Stay in Sacramento: Will it Help?

A tentative deal for a new arena has been reached.

A deal for a has been reached that will allow the Kings to remain in Sacramento, The Sacramento Bee is reporting.

"Deal has been struck between City and Maloofs. HUGE hurdle leapt. Be cautiously happy people," Sacramento-area sports radio personality "Carmichael Dave" Weiglein wrote on Twitter. "There are still hurdles left. A few. Big ones have been crossed. Trying to do a show with tears in your eyes is not as easy as you'd think."

If a deal for a new downtown arena had not been reached, the Kings would have moved, likely to Anaheim or Seattle, .

Now, thanks in part to Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, that will not happen.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote at 10 a.m. Tuesday on a resolution pledging the use of 1,500 downtown parking spaces to the potential new arena. The county hopes to secure at least $500,000 in annual revenue from the parking deal to fund its regional parks.

Rosemont, do you think keeping the Kings in Sacramento will have a trickle-down effect all the way out to this area?

Roberto, Looks like the discourse is losing steam. There's an article in today's Bee by PaulRead More Krugman (Nobel Prize winner for economics) titled "Austerity policy creating long-term unemployment." I'd be interested in your thoughts on Krugman's take on the debt issue you raised days ago.

We're not managing our spending and revenue is in the toilet. If the administration continues at this pace, they'll be going to Mexico for our next loan.
