Decision on Sac Kings Sale to Seattle Will be Delayed

The owners of the Sacramento Kings hope to sell the team to Seattle investors, but the NBA's Governing Board must still approve the deal. That vote has been pushed back, reports say.

Sacramento Kings fans waiting with bated breath to hear the fate of their team will have to wait a little longer.

The NBA's Governing Board was scheduled to vote this week on whether to allow the sale of the team to a group in Seattle, but that vote has been delayed, the Sacramento Bee and Seattle Times report.

"NBA Commissioner David Stern hinted at a possible delay two weeks ago, when he told reporters the long-awaited decision might not come at the Board of Governors meeting in New York," the Bee reported.

The Times and the Associated Press said 23 of the league's 30 team owners must vote in favor of a sale.

In the months since a deal to sell the team was announced, investors and fans from both cities have pushed back and forth over who could offer a better home for the Kings. Arena plans for both areas have been discussed, and the mayors of both towns have presented their cities as the top choice.

The Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau sought to make its own pitch to NBA officials, with the attached video that is being shown in Times Square this week.
