Cougars Swat Yellowjackets 58-18 in Playoff Home Opener

The Capital Christian Cougars easily defeated the Hilmar Yellowjackets 58-18 to advance to the second round of the Division IV playoffs Tuesday at Capital Christian High School.

The sixth-seeded Capital Christian Cougars easily defeated the 11th-seeded Hilmar Yellowjackets 58-18 to advance to the second round of the Division IV playoffs Tuesday at Capital Christian High School.

Some of the top peformers of the game for included freshman guard Haleigh Filer, who scored a game-high 15 points. Senior forward Coryn Galloway recorded a double-double: 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Team captain Brea Faulk, who was and the nearly the first half of Febraury after suffering two severe epileptic seizures, did play and scored five points. She was taken out of the game during the third quarter after suffering a minor seizure, spacing out after making a free throw. She was OK and did not require medical attention, but head coach Suzanne Baker kept Faulk out of the game for precautionary reasons.

Capital Christian will travel to face the third-seeded Calaveras Redskins Thursday.
