Capital Christian's Phil Oates Talks Sacramento Kings

Former boys basketball coach, current assistant coach Phil Oates is a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings. He recently sat down with Sactownroyalty.com for some Q&A

How positive was Capital Christian High School's assistant basketball coach Phil Oates that the Sacramento Kings would stay in Sacramento?

Try 99 percent.

The former boys basketball coach, now an assistant coach at Capital Christian, recently sat down with Sactownroyalty.com for some face time and a little Q&A.

He told the website: "I was 99 percent positive (the Kings would stay). We knew there would be twist and turns. I have great faith in the mayor. The mayor is one of the most amazing men I have ever met. He is a man of integrity. He can lead, as evident by how he was a point guard for the (Phoenix) Suns

As far as his role with the Kings as a minority owner? Oates says he we be an assistant to Kevin Nagle, one of the many investors that were instrumental in keeping the Kings in Sacramento.

"We're kind of the connecting point of the local leaders to the big partnership - that's Vivek and Mastrov and those guys. In time, everybody is going to get their opportunity to run the partnership, but at this stage, Kevin would be the No. 1 person and then I'd be assisting him," he told the site.
