Capital Beats Faith Christian, Looks to Semifinals

The Cougars beat the Lions by more than 50 points Friday night.

's boys basketball team breezed through its first playoff appearance Friday, beating Faith Christian High School 94-38.

are now headed to the semifinals, to be held Wednesday at Galt High School.

The Capital Christian boys, who hold the No. 1 seed, will face off against No. 4-seeded Sacramento Waldorf.

Boys coach Terry Battenberg acknowledged Sacramento Waldorf has a threat in Chris Schwartz-Edmisten, the top scorer in the state. But he said the Cougars have some strategies for shutting him down.

"We were trying one of them tonight," Battenberg said.

He also emphasized that the Cougars' bench will play a key role in the game against the Waves.

"We've got more depth than they do," he said.

girls: Capital Christian will play against Brookside Christian at 4 p.m.
boys: Capital Christian will play against Sacramento Waldorf at 5:30 p.m.
