On Saturday, April 14, 2012, was a recipient of a school makeover, compliments of members from the Fremont Presbyterian Church. The church held its annual “Go Day,” an annual service-day set aside to serve the community.

Approximately 200 people served throughout the Sacramento area at ten project sites. Golden Empire School was the proud recipient of one of these work groups.

Approximately 20 church volunteers made a difference by making over the school. Volunteers deep-cleaned the cafeteria and multi-purpose room, scrubbing and wiping down the floor, walls, tables, benches and windows. It looks magnificent now!

The school’s garden was weeded and tilled, just in time for more spring planting. The parking lot landscaping was spruced up and groundcover and beautiful flowers were added. Hallways and the quad area were thoroughly cleaned, also.

Principal Irene Eister was thrilled with the volunteers' efforts.

"I am so impressed with the time, effort, and commitment given by these volunteers. Their efforts made a difference to Golden Empire. They know how important a school is to the entire community."

While the volunteers were left tired at the end of the day, they left knowing that the students, staff, and community will greatly appreciate and benefit from their altruistic efforts!
