Viewfinder: PAL Team 3-0 in Rugby Tournament

Students from Albert Einstein Middle School played in the massive tournament Jan. 28 and 29.

Somewhere in the crowd of 2,500 participants at a youth rugby tournament Jan. 28 and 29 in Rancho Cordova were 10 students from .

They were part of the , which went undefeated in its three games that weekend at the 28th annual Kick Off Tournament.

Matt Foster, a volunteer coach, said in a previous interview that the sport helps the at-risk youth.

"These kids, once they start playing they come out of their shells a little bit," Foster said during a recent practice, adding that the kids are able to play as "one solid unit."

"That's kinda what rugby's about," he said.

The photos above showing the team in action were provided by Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Dep. Zach Hatch, who is another of the team's coaches. .
