Rosemont HS Staff 'Rising to the Situation,' Principal Says

Rosemont High School Principal Leise Martinez said she's pleased with the work of staff at the Kiefer Boulevard school.

administrators will have their work cut out for them next year.

With set to be the district’s only high school assistant principal laid off next year, his duties will have to be spread among other employees, Principal Leise Martinez said.

“We’re just going to be in a situation where Rosemont’s going to work a lot more efficiently,” Martinez said by phone from San Diego, where she’s attending a conference.

Martinez said Brann’s workload, including overseeing testing and dealing with attendance issues, will just have to be split up among other employees.

“At this point teachers are really stepping up to fill some of the leadership roles,” Martinez said, adding that Brann’s layoff is a loss for the school.

Principal to push community involvement

Martinez said one of her top goals for the coming school year will be to get students more involved in the community and to get the community more involved with the school.

Rosemont students will be present at next week’s , showing off the school’s athletics and band programs. The school is also and hopes to encourage conservation and growing food locally, she said.

Martinez said she hopes Rosemont will be “responsible for creating and establishing a solid community and giving back to the community.”

She also encouraged community members to attend football games and come to movie nights.

“Just people’s presence in the community means a lot,” she said. “It means a lot to the students.”
