Oct. 26 Groundbreaking for new Garden at the Rancho Cordova Library

How does your garden grow, Rancho?

Big thanks to our green-thumbed volunteers and donors at “Jardín” Cordova!

Come join the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Children's Read & Feed Training Garden at the Rancho Cordova Library on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. We’ll have light refreshments, and visitors can draw or paint pictures to go in a mural.

Going forward, the garden will serve as a catalyst for an ongoing series of programs emphasizing nutrition, healthy choices and service learning for kids. The garden was made possible by the Junior League of Sacramento, the Sacramento Public Library Foundation, Wells Fargo Bank and the Sacramento Public Library.

We’ll be joined by several local dignitaries, including State Assemblyman Ken Cooley, County Supervisor Don Nottoli, Sacramento Junior League President Amanda Merz, Sacramento Public Library Foundation Board Member Vince Jacobs, and Rancho Cordova Mayor Linda Budge, who is also a member of the Sacramento Public Library Joint Powers Authority Board.

This will be the second Read & Feed garden in the Sacramento Public Library system. The first, at the Colonial Heights Library, won an Urban Libraries Council Innovation Award in July.
