Black History Month Events at the Rancho Cordova Library

February 20, 6 p.m. Thursday
Urban Poetry with poet Lawrence Dinkins (aka NSAA) and Friends (adult).

Poet Bob Stanley presents Urban Poetry in America with local poets Lawrence Dinkins, Jr. (known as NSAA) and V.S. Chochezi and Khiry Malik performing their own spoken word art and speaking about the current poetry scene. Everyone is invited to this free program. Light refreshments will be served.  Funded by the Friends of the Rancho Cordova Branch Library and the Sacramento Poetry Center.

From Africa to the Americas with Fenix Dance & Drum Company (family/all ages).

Fenix Drum and Dance Company present a special program to celebrate Black History Month. History with a twist - travel from Africa to the United States and to the Caribbean through interactive music, dance, and storytelling. Sponsored by the Library and the Rancho Cordova Branch Friends' Group.

Drumbeat! Heartbeat! with Fenix Dance & Drum Company (family/all ages).

Let's celebrate Black History Month! Interactive drum circle playing a variety of African and African inspired drums. Everyone participates by playing exciting West African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms while learning facts about the various drums. Program made possible by the Friends of the Rancho Cordova Library.
