Rep. Ami Bera was elected to office to the 7th congressional district seat in January 2013, representing Rosemont.
But how much did his House seat cost him?
Campaigns cost money—most of the time lots of it. In terms of dollars and cents, Bera raised $3,664,782 during the 2012 election cycle, according to MapLight, a non-profit that tracks money in politics.
That figure is nearly double the average of money raised by a Congressional member last year. The average House member raised $1,689,580, or $2,315 a day, according to MapLight.
