Sewer and Fire Districts to Train in Rosemont Wednesday

The Sacramento Area Sewer District and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District will train together this week.

The fire department that serves Rosemont will help train the local sewer agency on safety and rescue techniques this week, according to a press release.

The Sacramento Area Sewer District and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District will train at on Wednesday.

"A highlight of the exercise will be a confined space rescue to help ensure employees’ safety in an emergency," a press release from fire officials states. "Examples of confined spaces include sewer manholes, pipelines, boilers and storage tanks. These spaces are often hazardous and can cause injuries or in some cases death."

The Sacramento Area Sewer District serves unincorporated Sacramento County, parts of the cities of Sacramento and Folsom, as well as Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, and Elk Grove.
