Do You Vote by Mail? This Baby Thinks You Should

Local election officials posted an online ad last week.

Sacramento County Elections officials have enlisted a young spokesman for voting by mail, and they aren't bashful about their influences.

“The E-Trade Baby commercials are attention-grabbing and entertaining,” a press release quoted Sacramento County Registrar of Voters Jill LaVine as saying. “We wanted to use this medium to reach out and communicate with people of all ages about voting by mail.”

In a video posted last week and originally produced by Riverside County, a talking toddler reminiscent of the ones promoting the online stock trading website advises his mom to vote by mail to avoid "standing in line like a vote-a-saurus."

Just more than half of Sacramento County's 645,558 registered voters vote by mail, according to the press release.

The deadline to register to vote by mail in Sacramento County is May 21.

"Voter registration forms must be mailed (postmarked by this date) or delivered to the Elections Office, 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento 95823," the press release states.

May 29 is the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the statewide presidental primary election, which will be held June 5. More information is available at http://www.elections.saccounty.net or at 916-875-6155.

Roberto, Looks like the discourse is losing steam. There's an article in today's Bee by PaulRead More Krugman (Nobel Prize winner for economics) titled "Austerity policy creating long-term unemployment." I'd be interested in your thoughts on Krugman's take on the debt issue you raised days ago.

Now, now Mark, no need to get personal. Tom brings some important facts to the table. Our nation'sRead More spending is uncontrolled in almost every area including defense. We're not managing our spending and revenue is in the toilet. If the administration continues at this pace, they'll be going to Mexico for our next loan.
