CRPD: Park Pathways to be Finished by June

The Cordova Recreation and Park District says it will soon complete the remaining pathways in Rosemont Community Park.

Renovations in have been complete for months–with the very noticeable exception of some broken, uneven pathways.

Residents have wondered why those pathways weren't also fixed, and last week user Anita Schaffner about it.

Interim District Administrator Doug Critchfield said residents will have to wait at least another month, as contracts to replace the remaining pathways are set to be awarded May 25.

As for the delay, Critchfield said the district held off on the pathway repairs because it wasn't sure if the cost of previous segments would fluctuate because of change orders.

"We have about $25,000 remaining from Phase III to do this last body of work and will try to do as much of the asphalt walk replacement work as possible in Phase IV," Critchfield said in an email. "It depends upon the bids that we receive."

Critchfield said the work should be finished by the end of June, but "probably sooner."
