'Books and Barks' Sale This Weekend at Shelter

Proceeds from sale to benefit recognition wall for rescue organizations.

The Sacramento County Animal Shelter will hold a book sale this weekend to benefit a project recognizing the efforts of rescue organizations.

The "Barks and Books" sale, from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, will include new, used, and possibly rare books. From fiction, to non-fiction, historical volumes, text books, cook books and best sellers, there will be something for everyone.

The shelter will also have its doors open for adoptions. Proceeds from the book sale will benefit a "Living Tree" recognition wall, "to pay tribute to the individual rescue organizations that have helped to save thousands of lives through their efforts," the shelter stated in a news release. Hundreds of animals have been transferred to rescue organizations this year.
