Animal Shelter Raises $19K at 'Flea' Market

Last weekend's fundraiser was a success for the Sacramento County Animal Shelter.

The netted about $19,000 from last weekend's fundraiser, staff said in a post on Facebook.

The event, which sold off goods that had been donated to the shelter, was run by more than 75 shelter volunteers and 40 volunteers from outside groups. The shelter singled out volunteer Laura Kass, who led organization of the event.

"The magnitude of time, physical and mental energy, and passion for the shelter that she put into coordinating this event was incredible," shelter staff wrote. "We are beyond fortunate to have Laura and her talents and dedication within our volunteer program and shelter family."
