A Fifth-Grader's Adorable Letter to the Animal Shelter

"Dear Sac County animal shelter..."

There are a lot of things tacked to the employee bulletin board at the : state labor law notices, schedules and a few letters from people who have adopted animals.

But this letter stands out from the rest. It's short and undated, and the messy handwriting gives away the age of the writer.

"Even though I donated $8.49 I owe you the thanks," fifth-grader Stephanie Davis wrote. "An animal lover such as myself are happy you got all the animals off the street and will get many more."

Tara Diller, the shelter's manager, said it's not so uncommon for kids to donate to the Bradshaw Road organization, which .

"This is happening more and more with kids bringing in their piggy banks," Diller said in an email. "Just warms our hearts to know we are reaching the youth!"
