Woman Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Steak Knives

A woman was arrested north of Rosemont last week.

A woman was arrested just north of Rosemont last week for allegedly throwing six steak knives at her longtime boyfriend, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log released earlier this week.

Rosalyn Vantassell, a 49-year-old resident of Tuolumne Drive in the La Riviera area, assaulted her boyfriend of 14 years on June 1, according to the crime log. One of the knives she threw hit the man in the scalp, the department said.

The man had to be taken to the hospital, and when Vantassell visited him the next day, she was arrested by hospital police, the crime log stated.

The victim had a restraining order against Vantassell and she is currently on probation, but the two had been living together, according to the crime log.

Vantassell is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, as well as a misdemeanor charge of violating a court order. Her bail is set at $105,000, and she is next due in court on Monday.

La Quinta shooting related to husband-wife spat, department says

was caused by an argument between a 27-year-old man and his wife, according to the crime log.

The suspect and his wife allegedly argued before a second man tried to intervene and defend the wife, the department said. The suspect shot the intervening man, and chased after him firing several more gunshots, according to the crime log.

The suspect is described only as a 27-year-old black male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 140 pounds.

A more recent crime log was released Thursday, but no nearby incidents were listed.
