A Rosemont woman has been arrested months after authorities say she was found with a dead baby in a trash bag under her bed.

Courtney Kathleen Addington, 24, was admitted to a local hospital on Jan. 25 with complications from excessive bleeding, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said in a press release.

"An examination of Addington showed evidence that she had recently given birth; however, Addington denied this contention by medical staff," the press release stated.

Her home, on Wildrose Way in Rosemont, was searched that evening, and officials made a grisly discovery.

"Deputies conducted a search of Addington’s residence, and discovered a newborn child in a trash bag underneath a bed in one of the rooms," the department said. "The infant was deceased upon deputies’ arrival."

Detectives have been investigating the case since that day, and arrested Addington Tuesday on a charge of murder. She is currently being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail. She is due in court Thursday afternoon.
