Who's That Running in the Video? Detectives Release More Info

Authorities say they know with more detail when Jessica Funk-Haslam was killed.

The video is about as clear as a home movie claiming to show Bigfoot, but authorities are hoping it'll yield some new information into the investigation of a Rosemont student's homicide.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department released a home surveillance video Thursday showing a shadowy figure running near Rosemont Drive and Contempo Drive between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 5. The person shown in the video isn't considered a suspect, but detectives "would like to identify the person, however, to determine if the individual has any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this case," according to a press release.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said detectives believe was likely killed between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on March 5.

"This belief is based on information gleaned from witness statements regarding activity at the park during that time frame the evening before the victim’s body was discovered," Ramos said in a press release.

Ramos also said detectives believe Jessica left her mother's apartment just outside of Rosemont a few hours prior to her death, then took a light rail train and a bus to the area of Rosemont Community Park. She was likely killed there, Ramos said.

"There is no evidence to suggest that she was killed elsewhere and brought to the dugout," Ramos said in an email.

The sheriff's department is urging any residents with information about the case or the identity of the person in the video to come forward:

"Anyone having information regarding this incident, or who knows the individual depicted in the video, is asked to call Sheriff’s Homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115, Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP, or send a text message tip to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000."
