Wanted by the Sacramento FBI: High School Juniors

Spring 2014 Sacramento FBI Teen Academy Applications Online Now

The following is a news release from the FBI's Sacramento Field Office:

Are you a high school junior who is curious about the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)?  Do you wonder if what you see on TV about the FBI is real?  Are you curious about what being an FBI agent and working cases is like?  If so, the Sacramento FBI has an opportunity that is custom made for you: the Spring 2014 FBI Teen Academy.

Students selected for the class will spend an interactive day in FBI space, learning what it takes to be an agent, some of the federal violations the FBI investigates, and how to avoid behaviors that can negatively impact their futures.  Attendees will also be more aware of the challenges that face their communities, and are better prepared to mentor their peers after attending the class.

All high school juniors currently within the 34 California counties served by the Sacramento FBI are eligible to apply for the Spring 2014 Sacramento FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at division headquarters.  Application packages are available online now and must be received at Sacramento FBI headquarters by post or hand delivery until the Friday, March 7, 2014 deadline.

Students interested in attending the Spring 2014 FBI Teen Academy must complete the application package available on the “In Your Community” page of the Sacramento FBI website and complete an essay detailing why he or she wants to attend the class and what benefit the experience will have for the student’s community and school. A panel will evaluate the applications and select the Spring 2014 Sacramento FBI Teen Academy class.

The one-day Sacramento FBI Teen Academy is offered at no cost to students.  The class is free and the Sacramento FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association and its members generously sponsor lunch and snacks for all students in attendance.  If a student is selected, his or her family is responsible for transportation to and from class and any other personal arrangements that may be necessary for attendance.
