Vehicle with Four Occupants Shot on Kiefer Boulevard

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday.

A vehicle driving on Kiefer Boulevard was shot Sunday when a man fired several shots across a busy Rosemont intersection, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

Dayne Salcedo, 24, was aiming at an unknown person who had allegedly shot at him earlier in the day, the department said. When he tried to return fire near Kiefer Boulevard and South Port Drive around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, he accidentally hit a vehicle filled with four innocent bystanders, including an 8-year-old child, according to the crime log.

The occupants of the vehicle were not hurt, the crime log states.

Deputies found Salcedo a short distance away and arrested him. He gave several stories about what he did with the gun, sheriff's department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said.

"Ultimately, he was not forthcoming, and it was never recovered, so it’s unknown if the gun was stolen," Ramos said in an email.
