Update: Sunday Shooting was Gunpoint Robbery

A crime log released Tuesday included more information about a shooting Sunday.

Updated 10 a.m. Wednesday: Sunday's shooting that started as a gunpoint robbery, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

The incident started when two teens, 17 and 18, were walking around the area of Caldera Way and Percival Drive around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos initially said the incident was one block east on Smoky Court, but later said, "the official location of occurrence has been listed at the intersection of Caldera Way and Percival Drive."

One of the teens asked a stranger for a cigarette, when the stranger pulled out a gun and pressed it to his neck, according to the crime log.

As the suspect held one of the teens at gunpoint, he made the other teen "empty his pockets in search [of] items to take," the crime log states.

The first teen tried to grab the suspect's gun and was shot, the crime log states.

The teen's injury was a gunshot wound to the hip, and was non-life threatening, Ramos said.

The suspect had a companion, but few details about their descriptions are available. The gunman is described only as a 5-foot-8 male, and both people were wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts, Ramos said. The pair fled the area before authorities arrived, the crime log states.

The crime log incorrectly listed the age of the teen who was shot; Ramos confirmed Wednesday that he was 17. The other victim, who was 18, was assaulted, Ramos said.

Ramos declined to release any information on either victim.
