Suspected Shoplifter Arrested at Save Mart

Tammy Kay Smith, 44, was arrested Friday at the Kiefer Boulevard grocery store.

An alleged trip through the five-finger express lane at Save Mart Friday led to a trip downtown for 44-year-old Tammy Kay Smith, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

Smith allegedly entered the Kiefer Boulevard grocery store, stuffed six bottles of liquor and other items into her purse and tried to slip out the front door, where a loss prevention officer put an end to her party planning, the department said.

She was arrested on a felony count of petty theft with prior theft convictions, and is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on $60,000 bail, according to sheriff's department records.
