Streets Flooded? Here's Where to Get Sandbags

County and city offices around the Sacramento area are distributing sandbags. Here's where to get them.

With the heavy rains expected Friday, area residents can also expect large puddles and even some roadway flooding.

Earlier Friday, the CHP reported flooding at San Juan Avenue and Winding Way in Fair Oaks; locations on I-5 and Highway 50 near downtown Sacramento were also reported to be flooded earlier Friday morning.

In Elk Grove, Cadura Circle near Elk Grove-Florin Road briefly experienced flooding at sidewalk-depth.

The above map shows locations where residents can pick up sandbags from local government offices–be sure to call the designated phone number for your area first to check on availability. Here's the key to the map:

This morning (Sat), my husband went to the CH City Hall - bags are only for CH residents. He also went to the County's location in Orangevale but it was closed. He ended up at Lowe's where he bought 1000 lbs of sand for $28 and bags were .21 each - a bargain compared to what the damage could be tomorrow.
