Shoplifting Suspect Escapes, Leaves Stolen Car Behind

A loss-prevention officer at the Rite Aid in Rosemont stopped a man from getting away with some stolen merchandise earlier this month but couldn't stop the suspect from fleeing, according to a recently released Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.
The crime occurred on May 6 but wasn't reported until Friday, according to the crime log. A man entered the store around 4 p.m., concealed some items and walked out, the department said.
The loss-prevention officer stopped the suspect as he was unlocking a car, and the man dropped the allegedly stolen items and ran.

The car he was driving had been reported stolen in April, and belonged to an ex-girlfriend, according to the crime log. Authorities reached the suspect on his cell phone, and he "declined to turn himself in," the crime log states.
Man assaulted outside Micron Avenue bank
A man was assaulted and robbed outside the Wells Fargo on Micron Avenue last week, according to the crime log.

The victim was walking toward the bank around 6 p.m. on Thursday when he was jumped by two unknown suspects, who were able to escape after the alleged assault. One suspect is described as a 38-year-old Hispanic male with green eyes standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 180 pounds. The other is described as a 25 to 28-year-old Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 150 pounds.
