Shoplifting Suspect Escapes, Leaves Stolen Car Behind

A look at a recent crime log released by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

A loss-prevention officer at the Rite Aid in Rosemont stopped a man from getting away with some stolen merchandise earlier this month but couldn't stop the suspect from fleeing, according to a recently released Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

The crime occurred on May 6 but wasn't reported until Friday, according to the crime log. A man entered the store around 4 p.m., concealed some items and walked out, the department said.

The loss-prevention officer stopped the suspect as he was unlocking a car, and the man dropped the allegedly stolen items and ran.
