Services Announced for Fallen Animal Control Officer

Services for Roy Marcum will be held Saturday, Dec. 8. The animal shelter will be closed for business that day.

Friends, family and the public are being invited to celebrate the life of the Sacramento County Animal Control Officer shot and killed in Galt last week.

Roy Marcum, killed while at a call to a foreclosed home that was supposed to be empty, will be remembered Thursday and Saturday, the Sacramento County Animal Shelter posted on its Facebook page:

A public viewing will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lombard and Company Funeral Home, 1550 Fulton Ave. in Sacramento.

The funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Towers Church of The Nazarene, 5132 Elkhorn Blvd. in Sacramento. The burial will be held around 11 a.m. at East Lawn Cemetary, 5757 Greenback Ln. in Sacramento.

Finally, a reception will be held around noon Saturday at the animal shelter, 3839 Bradshaw Road in Rosemont.

The shelter will be closed for business Saturday so staff can attend the services.

A donation fund has also been set up for Marcum's family, at the Premier West Bank in Elk Grove. Checks should be made out to "Memorial Fund for Roy Marcum," with the account No. 82804846 noted. They can be sent to Premier West Bank, 9340 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA, 95624.
