A vandal or vandals burned a slide at Rosswood Park in Rosemont, prompting its removal and need for replacement, authorities said.
A reader informated Patch that her husband and child had gone to play in the park Thursday and found a smoking slide, with water puddling around it.
Law enforcement tape was already around the space, in the park at Rosebrook and Roseport ways, the woman wrote.
The Cordova Recreation and Park District was notified of the damage Thursday morning, a staffer told Patch.
"CRPD was notified yesterday morning that a slide was burned at Rosswood Park," reads a statement released by the district.
"Vandalism crews are performing the necessary equipment removal and will caution off the site until such time as a replacement slide can be procured.”
