A 19-year-old man has been arrested on charges he shot and killed a man in Rosemont last week.
Michael John Almeda was arrested Tuesday night on charges of murdering 21-year-old Alexander Brian Chavez on Jan. 17.
"Investigation into this incident led to the identification of Almeda as a person responsible for this crime," the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said in a press release. "The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are looking at the possibility that there may be other suspect(s) associated with this incident. The relationship between the suspect (Almeda) and the victim in this case, as well as a motive for the shooting, are still being determined."
Chavez was found lifeless in the driver's seat of an SUV on Westporter Drive around 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 17.
