Men Allegedly Fire Shotgun into Air at Apartment Complex

A list of recent arrests in the Rosemont area.

Two men were arrested Sunday night after witnesses saw them firing a shotgun into the air at a Kiefer Boulevard apartment complex, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

When deputies arrived, they found a sawed-off shotgun in 27-year-old Stanley Tillman's apartment. Tillman and 19-year-old Mark Dunne were arrested, and are currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

Tillman is being charged with two felonies: negligent discharge of a firearm and an illegal weapons charge. His bail is set at $40,000. Dunne, whose bail is set at $25,000, is being charged with a felony count of negligent discharge of a firearm. Both are due back in court Thursday.

Shovel Wielded in Norcade Circle Argument, Department Says

A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday evening on Norcade Circle after arguing with a woman, kicking in her door and swinging a shovel at her, the crime log states.

Ranell Edwards was arrested on assault and vandalism charges, according to the department. After arguing with the woman, he kicked in her door, the department said. She picked up a golf club to protect herself, but Edwards broke it with the shovel, the crime log states. He then smashed the woman's car windshield with the shovel before tossing it in an adjacent yard, according to the crime log.

The sheriff's department log says Edwards then picked up a metal bar and began to walk back toward the woman's home, but stopped and began walking away when he saw deputies arriving. He was arrested and is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on assault and vandalism charges. Edwards also had a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly failing to appear for a jaywalking court date. His bail is set at $50,465, and he is due in court Thursday.

Driver allegedly found with cocaine

Early Sunday, a Folsom Boulevard driver was arrested by Rancho Cordova Police on drug charges, the crime report states.

Richard Meraz, 36, was stopped on Folsom Boulevard near Butterfield Way for having expired registration tags, according to the department. Officers found cocaine in the car, and Meraz's cell phone contained "several text messages that indicated he was actively selling narcotics," the crime log states.

He was arrested, and is currently being held on a felony drug charge. His bail is set at $35,000 and he is due in court on Aug. 11.
