Kitten May Have Caused Rosemont Drive Mattress Fire

A mattress fire on Rosemont Drive drew firefighters Tuesday evening.

A mattress fire at a Rosemont Drive home Tuesday may have been started by a kitten and a lamp, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said.

Around 9:45 p.m., three units responded to a fire in the 3200 block of Rosemont Drive, office technician Carmen Delgado said.

Assistant Chief Dale Turner said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but Delgado said an early report noted a "small lamp burned up and appeared to be the heat source."
