Jury Convicts Rosemont Mother of Murdering Her Newborn Baby Girl

A Rosemont woman was convicted today of the first-degree murder of her baby girl.

A  Sacramento jury convicted Kathleen Addington of killing the daughter she had given birth to in her Rosemont home, shortly after the girl was born on Jan. 24 according to the Sacamento Bee. Addington faces 25 years to life in state prison and will next appear in court on Nov. 1 for sentencing.

Addington gave birth to the baby girl and stuffed her in a plastic garbage bag, which was later recovered underneath Addington's bed. She told her relatives and boyfriend that the bleeding she endured during the birth was related to irritable bowel syndrome according to the Bee.

It was determined however at the hospital that the bleeding was because of the birth of the girl, who was later named Hayden Elaine Addington Minton.
