Head of Sheriff's East Division Takes New Job

Doug Diamond will be moving to Utah.

The division of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department that patrols Rosemont will soon be on the search for a new leader.

Capt. Doug Diamond, who heads the and is the chief of police for Rancho Cordova, has accepted a new job in West Jordan, Utah, the Grapevine Independent is reporting.

, the fourth Rancho Cordova Police chief, told the Grapevine Independent that he has always planned on returning to Utah, where he attended Brigham Young University.

“My son lives there and so does my sister,” Diamond told the newspaper. “Really, all of my family is there and I want to be closer to family.”

The Grapevine Independent reports that the new east division head must be a sheriff's department captain; Rancho Cordova City Manager Ted Gaebler said about six or seven are likely to apply for the position.
