Alcohol Ban on American River Set for Memorial Day Weekend

Do you think alcohol should be banned on the American River?

Forget about bringing beer along to the American River during Memorial Day weekend — the county has placed a ban on alcohol that weekend.

From Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27, a temporary alcohol ban will be in place on the shore and the river within the American River Parkway between Watt and Hazel avenues, according to a Sacramento County news release.

"Violations of the alcohol ban may result in citation or arrest, and the ordinance will be strictly enforced," according to the release.

Last summer, the county announced an expansion to their summer alcohol ban, which extended from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Patch reported
