Who's Got the Ugliest Sweater in Northern California?

Upload your ugly sweater photos and tell us in the comments which is the ugliest.

Something about snowflakes and reindeer seems to bring out the..."creative"...in sweater design.

On the shortest day of the year as the December chill sets in, it feels positively festive to bundle up in a nice thick sweater. Style goes out the door, and bright colors and garish ornamentation are the name of the game.

So let us see it: upload your photos of your favorite ugly sweater by clicking on the "Upload Photos and Videos" button above. And don't feel that you're limited to holiday attire: if you've got a fantastic DayGlo mohair number, we want to see it.

Vote for the ugliest sweater in Northern California by telling us your favorite in the comments. Make your selection by Dec. 24 at 11:59 p.m.

For SantaCon this year in San Francisco, my boyfriend wore some pretty ugly Christmas scrubs. Not a sweater, but the ugly factor was still up there.

The funny thing about "ugly sweaters" is that you can look through old family photos to find plenty of candidates--sweaters that, at the time, you thought were lovely!

Haha. My husband and I have been throwing "Ugly Holiday Sweater" parties for four years and every year, they just keep getting uglier. But you know what? There's just something incredibly festive about wearing these things. You can't help but smile. And laugh. A LOT! :)

I don't know, Carlos. Phyllis' sweater is a beast.
Claudia Cruz December 22, 2012 at 01:16 am
Thanks Mayra for inviting me. It was my first ever ugly sweater party and it will be memorable, to say the least! Glad we took our photo so that the world now can share in it too!

Well my wife does sweat a lot but I wouldn't say she was that ugly.

I come without bearing any real proof but since this was titled: Who's Got the Ugliest Sweater in Northern California then this could mean "all year long" and in that case I'm gonna nominate one Ray Ratto from Comcast Bay Area and a local SF Bay Area sports 'writer', 'journalist' - etc. On a regular basis and with tongue in cheek - I think Ray should qualify easily in the top three - or five.

Thanks for letting us know this worked, Stephanie! Sometimes, you just need a little bit of silliness in your life. ;)
Mayra Flores de Marcotte (Editor) December 22, 2012 at 08:42 pm
Everyone needs a little balance, Chris. Our communities offer a range of topics for discussion and since we aim to be each of our town's online community, we try to offer that same range for conversation too. Besides, who can resist laughing and talking about something as silly as Holiday sweaters? :)
Craig Howell December 26, 2012 at 03:45 pm
Phyllis of course!
Jo March December 26, 2012 at 05:50 pm
Oh, Phyllis, you win paws down!
Drew Himmelstein (Editor) December 26, 2012 at 09:37 pm
Looks like Phyllis is our winner!

The three people - look like they are under 20 years old and are either light skinned black - orRead More Hispanic - travel together often around Percival, Firelight and Caldera. They have also stolen a flip-phone - then asked for $20.00 when they returned it.

The Marks of this world are too blind to facts to bother arguing with. He thinks 4 generation ofRead More welfare and more people on food stamps then ever before in history is progress! What's the point acknowledging such absurd nonsense? Don't bother Roberto, complete waste of effort.

Nobody likes debt or an economy that is limping along. Obama has done an admirable job consideringRead More what he's had to put up with. The deficit has been reduced considerably. Stock market is as high as ever. Unemployment is still a big problem. Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs. Our bridges are falling apart. How about we invest in fixing our crumbling infrastructure, get those people back to work, get them spending, stimulate this economy. Oh, that's right, if Obama is for it, the opposition will automatically be against it (even if it's their idea!) .
Guido Bisogno May 27, 2013 at 07:03 pm
Here we go - perfect example of a blind koolaid drinker. Listen to this: "The deficit has beenRead More reduced considerably" REALLY, then why has it doubled in the last few years? What planet are you from? "Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs." then "Obama has done an admirable job"....HELLOOOOOO! You can't have it both ways. My god we are lost if this is the mentality that is voting now - totally lost. I wish these types were routed out of the gene pool when things were tough and they would simply perish from stupidity. Now days thing are so easy they thrive and reproduce. Watch in 10 years how GREAT things are, just watch.

Thanks for a wonderful article Chris! Truly, Cyprus is one of the most magical and beautiful placesRead More on this earth and I hope the current financial challenges are short lived! Again, thanks for a very well written article!
