Neighborhood Watch Gives Vital Information at Sequoia Fall Festival

Neighborhood Watch: Helping to make Rosemont safer.

The Neighborhood Watch (NW) information table was available to attendees at Sequoia’s Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.

People were encouraged to learn how Neighborhood Watch groups help to inform and equip residents to become proactive in the fight against crime by sharing information, tools and training.

Residents who visited the NW information table were invited to follow a simple three-step process:

  1. Take a copy of the Rosemont Neighborhood Watch brochure
  2. Sign the interest sheet to receive information by email on how to start a Neighborhood Watch group
  3. Have their children fingerprinted for free.

Children were excited to see the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department crime dog, McGruff, as they gave him hugs and high-fives. As Crime Prevention Specialist Heidi Herrera escorted McGruff, everyone was reminded to “Take a Bite out of Crime.”

The numbers are increasing, but we need more NW groups to make Rosemont safer! Last year the number of Rosemont Neighborhood Watch groups was eight.  Currently, there are 21 active groups. If you would like to learn how to start a NW group in your area, please request information through the RCA website at info@rosemontca.org.

Volunteers are vital to ensure this valuable information reaches community members.  A big “thank you” to volunteers Danny, Lisa, Amber, Kristi and Claudia who graciously gave of their time to this effort.  If you would like to be a helper in the future, please let us know through the RCA website at info@rosemontca.org.
