How Early Should Meningitis Vaccine be Required?

Should the government require meningitis vaccines at an earlier age?

I sent this request via email to our governor, Jerry Brown.

The article is about the young man who has been affected by the meningitis bacterial infection.  At the request of his family and friends we are asking that California schools be encouraged to adopt the meningitis vaccination policy at an earlier age, preferably at age 12 or upon entering middle school.

There are many benefits to giving these kids their vaccinations at this age.  One, it helps prevent or at least lessons the chance greatly of these children developing a life-threatening illness.  Then by the middle of high school, say their sophomore/junior year, they can receive the booster shot, before entering into college.

What do you think Rosemont and others in the Patch community?  Do you think it is a more appropriate age?  Please weigh in.
