Stop Stigma & Share Your Message of Hope on May 8

In honor of May is Mental Health Month, the “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project is hosting an event on the North Steps of the State Capitol Building, where attendees can write and display messages of hope and recovery! As part of its Mental Health Services Act initiative, the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health Services (DHHS/DBHS) launched the “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project, which seeks to promote messages of wellness, hope and recovery, dispel the myths and stereotypes surrounding mental illness and fundamentally alter negative attitudes and perceptions about mental illness and emotional disturbance.
