Who Is the Rosemont Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year,” Time managing editor Richard Stengel explained in his note to readers.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Rosemont's Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse?”

Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

My choice is an easy one - hands down it is Mr. Chris Gosney, the Activity Director and esteemed teacher at Rosemont High School. Mr. Gosney is an inspiring leader, heading the annual Rosemont Homecoming Parade which brings hundreds of students from local elementary schools to the campus, providing a wonderful opportunity for them to grow and learn. His ever-growing RHS team runs in the Run to Feed the Hungry, and he takes groups of leadership students to local schools to promote academics and more. He is my obvious choice for Rosemont Person of the Year!

My pick is Dr. Ester at Golden Emprie, she has driven that school to being one of the best in Rosemont and the Kids LOVE HER...

Terry Dugan from Rosemont Community Association. He works diligently to bring together the community. Attends meetings with the schools and nearby agencies and organizations in the effort to improve Rosemont neighborhoods. Always encouraging others and does a good portion of the "dirty work" in organizing.

Rosemont has a wealth of individuals who are deserving of consideration. I would like to mention all the outstanding educators, and community leaders, and those who volunteer in our community, as worthy of being named Rosemont Person of the Year. My vote for Rosemont Person of the Year, would be for Terry Dugan for his work throughout the Rosemont Community.

Wow, some great choices! I must say that Rosemont High School has worked very hard to be the hub of our community. There are many volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to make Rosemont a fantastic place to live. One person that stands out the most to me is a senior at Rosemont High School. Mr. Andrew Maalouf has played such a huge part in the Rosemont Community. If there is an event, he is usually the planner or involved somehow. You don't find many youth like Andrew. Rosemont is lucky to have such a dedicated young man as part of our community. My Vote is for Andrew Maalouf
