Week in Review, Jan. 15: Fitness, Brown's Budget Proposal, More

A look back at the week ending Jan. 15.

It was another busy news week around the state as California's new head honcho, Gov. Jerry Brown, unveiled his proposed budget. The effects were felt at every level, and some of the week's top stories in Rosemont were related to that proposal.

  1. - The first of two articles on fitness this week, our business of the week has an interesting history.
  2. - Here's a list of several different ways to get fit in and around Rosemont.
  3. - The congresswoman who represents Rosemont this week issued a brief statement reacting to the recent shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
  4. - The county supervisor who represents Rosemont said this week he's open to Brown's ideas – if they're executed the right way.
  5. - The owner of a planned gas station and Burger King on Jackson Road this week faced a delay from the county.
  6. - The Sacramento County Grand Jury this week described the impact budget cuts have had on local agencies, and the picture wasn't pretty.
  7. - The Wolverines lost a close game Wednesday.
  8. - Rosemont received news of a local arrest this week.
  9. - Rosemont High School's other varsity basketball team fell to another cross-town rival this week.
  10. - Another part of Brown's budget proposal is an order for half of all state workers to return their government-funded cell phones. We hit the streets for reactions.
