Week in Review, Jan. 1: Tree Disposal, Resolutions, More

A look back at the week ending Jan. 1.

Welcome to 2011! This week we said goodbye to the first decade of the new millennium, and while many had the week off from school and work, Rosemont didn't completely shut down. Here's a glance back at some of the stories you may have missed.

  1. - This week started with a reminder that empty schools aren't always a good thing.
  2. Tired of cooking? Here are some places to take guests.
  3. - Christmas has come and gone, and now it's time for the cleanup.
  4. - It was a rainy week, and here's an example of what that can mean for drivers.
  5. - Not every present can be perfect.
  6. - This story, which originally appeared on San Bruno Patch, shows the recommendations for places–like Kiefer Boulevard–that have gas pipelines buried beneath them.
  7. - Rosemont isn't the only Patch site in the region. See what the other three in the Sacramento area are up to.
  8. - It's a new year, which means it's time for resolutions. What's yours?
  9. Rosemont Author Writes of WWII Japanese-American Internment - Kiyo Sato's memoir details the nine months she spent detained during World War II.
  10. Patch Answers: Why Can't Utility Lines Be Put Underground? - This week we answer a question from a reader about the eyesores that deliver electricity and phone service to Rosemont.

Comment of the week:

"... If people don't talk, the criminals feel safe to do what they want. I guess the first thing should be just better communication and simple knowledge about who to speak to and with. ..."
